Local Coptic Christians rally against violence in Egypt - News1130

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Coptic Christians from around the Lower Mainland will be at Vancouver's Art Gallery this afternoon.  They want Canadians to know how Christians are being targeted with violence in Egypt.
The most shocking violent episode happened as worshippers were leaving midnight mass in Alexandria on New Year's Day.  A blast left 23 people dead and nearly 100 injured.
Organizer Nancy Yacoub says Egyptian leaders should know Canadians are watching.  "We are seeing more and more extremism in Egypt.  The government is extremely passive.  The police are controlled by extremists."
She adds thanks to the Internet, the Egyptian government can no longer deny that Christians are being targeted.  Coptic Christians make up about 10 per cent of Egypt's population.
